Ceramic artist, project conception

Photography by Caleb Hamernick.

Project design for the Farm-Rio store now open in Brooklyn. The commission was for a vase and shoe displays, and with that came the green garden vase and the water lillies as a composition for a shoe display.

I grew up wandering through the Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with my mum and brother. Since I was little, the giant water lilies have rooted a feeling of home in me. Their strength and deep roots, reaching further than the eye can see, support other lives that come to bask in the sun or have found a place to settle. Fallen leaves and dragonflies encircle their grandeur. As I often bring to my work, these pieces tell a story, a moment frozen in time. Uniquely Brazilian fauna and flora surround the ceramic forms, bathed in golden details. Natural, feminine delicacies complete the vase, with butterflies resting on the edge to taste the sweetness, ladybugs following golden paths, and flowers drawing nourishment from their essence.

In this botanical series, I blend a bit of my metalwork and etchings with my sculptural work. Exclusively made for Farm Rio, and currently on display in their Brooklyn store. Soon to head to the Upper East.
